Swim Lesson FAQs

What if the private swim lessons I need are full? Are you taking a waiting list?

If the private swim lesson you want is full, we are NOT taking a waiting list. As cancellations occur, those newly available swim lesson spots will become open for online registration. These spots can be found by searching for “private swim lesson” on our registration site; the openings will have a button to “add to cart.” However, we are also offering an option to receive alerts about private lesson openings. To sign up for open lesson alerts, go to our registration site and search “private swim lesson interest list.” There will be one for each week of lessons. Add any weeks you want to your cart and checkout (at no cost). As new spots open up for a given week, we will email anyone interested in that week and announce the timeslot that has become available. Interested parties can go online and sign up. The first person to add the lesson to their cart will get it.

Can my child take a swim lesson while they are at camp or after care?

Campers may enroll in either private or group lessons during camp hours and staff will escort campers to and from lessions EXCEPT during the 2:30 and 3:00pm private swim slots. Parents are responsible for transporting your child to and from a swim lesson at 2:30 or 3:00pm. Please keep in mind that if your camper is enrolled in a camp that attends a field trip, the missed lesson can not be rescheduled or refunded.

How many children can participate in a semi-private swim lesson?

We allow a maximum of two children per lesson, the swimmers must be at or near the same level of swim ability.

Can I request a specific instructor for my swimmer?

Yes. While we cannot guarantee any requests, we do our best to accommodate requests when we can. If you wish to request an instructor, please include your request in the “customer notes” when you register online.

What does my child need to bring to swim lessons?

Your child should come to swim lessons in a swimsuit (and swim shirt if desired) and bring a towel. Goggles are recommended but not required. Please tie back long hair.

I need to enroll my swimmer in lessons, but I am facing financial hardship. Is there anything that I can do?

We understand that swim lessons are essential. If you are facing financial hardship, please apply for the Danaz Salak Swim Lesson Scholarship.

What is your refund policy? How do I request a refund?

Cancellations must be received by the Wednesday before the scheduled lesson. Cancellation fees are as follows: Monday-Friday block lessons, $10, Sat/Sun single lesson, $2. If a request is received after Wednesday, you will forfeit 50% of the lesson fee. No refunds will be granted once a given session of lessons has begun. To request a refund, please email csd@marinwood.org.
