American Red Cross Babysitter's Training
Ages 10-14
Babysitting is an important job. You need life and safety skills to take care of and protect children. In the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course, you will learn basic care giving, how to make good decisions, accident prevention and age appropriate play. The course is fun and fast-paced with hands-on activities, exciting video and lively discussions. You’ll learn to be the best babysitter on the block. Plus, you’ll gain the confidence to make smart decisions and stay safe in any babysitting situation. Impress parents by earning your Babysitter’s Training certificate! Please bring a pen/pencil, note paper, and snack to class. Course fee includes American Red Cross Babysitter’s handbook and certificate. 

Babysitter participants are required to have a personal email address (non-school) for certification. Please make sure your participant's account has their own personal email address or email Robyn with the address at rbruton@marinwood.org prior to the class date.

Irish Dance with The Healy School 
Ages 5+

Intro to Irish Dance: Learn the basics of Irish Dance including drills, timing, and technique, as well as the reel and light jig. 
Grade Level Solos: For dancers who have their reel and light jig to music. Dancers with light shoe only will be excused at 7:15pm

The Healy School of Irish Dance was established in 1870.  The Healy School holds the record for the longest running Irish dance school in the world, with lessons taught by 4th generation ADCRG PattiAnn Ranum, and her daughter, 5th generation TCRG Alisa Belew.  The Healy School competes locally and at world level and teaches all levels from beginners through Championship.  Some of the highlights of the year besides competition are performing at the Giants Irish Heritage Nights, marching in the San Francisco St. Patrick's Day parade, and doing shows locally for the Marin Irish American Club, Marin County Fair, etc.   We look forward to welcoming you into our Healy family!

Enrichment Classes

Pottery and Clay Class with Ms Paula at Lucas Valley Elementary
Grades 3rd-5th

In our clay class each project will encourage artistic growth and experimentation. They will learn new and more advanced techniques of using the pottery wheel as well as exploring slab built methods to make sculptural forms. A variety of clays will be used to cultivate their creativity and personal style, including using a variety of decorative materials to enhance their artwork. Location: Lucas Valley Art Studio, Room E7

Come and use your imagination to explore your creativity in Ms Paula's Art Studio. Each week this class will offer a different medium to experiment with including clay, collage, drawing and painting on canvas. Beautiful Brushstrokes with Ms Paula at Lucas Valley Elementary
Grades TK-1st

Come and join Ms. Paula to work with different paints to make your mark! In this class artists will have the opportunity to explore and mix colors (primary and secondary), using line and shape to create a variety of compositions. Using certain types of brushes the artists will learn how to apply paint effectively using dipping, dabbing, and controlling pressure, all while considering the specific brush shape and size to express their desired results. Having fun during the process and enjoying the excitement of how paint can be used in many ways. Location: Lucas Valley Art Studio, Room E7

Winter Wonderland Workshop With LEGO Materials

In this workshop we will apply enginerring, arhitecture, creativity, and fun to create a magical Winter Wonderland! Build motorized contraptions like snowmobiles, gondolas, or a hilltop village, slopes for LEGO skiers and sledders.

Dungeons & Dragons Summer Camp
Age: 5th-11th grade
Exolore ancient ruins and discover strange magic and incredible creatures. Get the dice out for this pencil-and-paper, collaborative game of adventure and imagination. Participants take the initiative to direct the storytelling through the choices they make role-playing their characters. In each group, we create a unique story arc that follows our heroes as they become powerful forces of their realm. This program is for all experience levels and is an excellent introduction to tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons. We make take a break for participants to play outside and have an opportunity to eat their snack. Please pack a water bottle and heavy snack daily. $20 materials fee is due upon thee first group meeting. It covers dice, notebook/binder folders, character sheets, digital tools, game accessories, and craft materials that participants may use and/or bring home.

Instructor: Kids' Choice Camps. Game Master Michel Harris has a BA from SFSU in performing arts, has been running D&D games for 10 years, and has extensive experience working with kids in gaming groups and theater programs.

Tae Kwon Do

Welcome to join mid-session, register for one day per week or drop-in! Contact the Community Center to enroll. Students may join mid-session for prorated fee!

Beginning Children Tae Kwon Do 
Ages 5-6 
Your child will learn to defend themselves, gain self-confidence, and increase mental concentration. This program is designed to develop motor skills, balance, and self-discipline. Both boys and girls are encouraged to experience this fun and confidence building program. This is a non-competitive curriculum. The instructor will announce belt testing dates and an optional TKD uniform may be purchased through the instructor. Students not purchasing a uniform should wear loose fitting clothing that they can move around in easily. Start building self-esteem and confidence today.

White Crane Silat Kuntao - Play Based Conditioning

White Crane Silat is a Chinese Indonesian martial art with roots in the kung fu diaspora. In this upbeat class for kids, we play with jumping, rolling, sliding, falling, animal inspired movements, and breath, using obstacle games to develop awareness, alertness, grounding, centering, balance, coordination, and a vocabulary of functional movement! White Crane Silat Kuntao - Rank Promotion Track
Ages 9-15
In this class kids learn PBG standardized list of movements which qualify them for belt testing and rank promotion in White Crane Silat. Students develop focus, courage, and determination as they integrate a growingly sophisticated repertoire of movement, including short movements, long forms, acrobatics, and throws. Listening and willingness to focus are a prerequisite for this class. Join mid session or drop-ins welcome! Drop-in fee: $25

All Sports Game Day- MLK Day

The All Sport Game Day is a perfect place for kids to be introduced to the world of sports and an active, healthy lifestyle. This multi sport day may include basketball, soccer, flag football, wiffleball, kickball, and more. These games teach children sport specific skills while learning the importance of teamwork, losing and winning with dignity, and communication with friends and peers.
